InnoNative takes a fun, educational approach when it comes to workshops. We run our workshops from a respectful and playful approach. Our intention and goals for our workshops is to empower people to learn foundational skill sets that will stay with them for a lifetime. We build our workshops around the hope that attendees continue growing and learning well beyond the end of the workshop, and that they can use their newly acquired skills to continue contributing to their community and their personal growth.

Making An Impact Since 2014

Spearheaded by lead facilitator Patrick Shannon, InnoNative has partnered with dozens organizations, universities, programs, and Indigenous groups across Canada to facilitate media, technology, marketing, branding, and entrepreneurship training.

Patrick Shannon (studio and facilitation lead) has instructed award-winning university level entrepreneurship programming for the University of Victoria’s Peter B. Gustavson School of Business with a focus on branding, marketing, web and social media.

We also prioritize youth filmmaking and media creation workshops across the country, taking us as far North as Chesterfield Inlet, Nunavut, West to East from British Columbia to Ontario and just about everywhere in between. We have been hired to facilitate by amazing organizations which include: Videa, Our World Language, N’we Jinan, inPath, TakingITGlobal, University of Victoria, Create To Learn, Lake Babine Nation, Indigenous Business Development Services, Real To Reel Film Festival, Our World Language, and more!

When we leave, the learning doesn’t stop.

Our workshops are geared towards supporting long-term learning. This is why we offer workshops that can include equipment packages. This means that we will set you up with the skills and equipment necessary for attendees to continue to work on their projects, long after our facilitators have left. In some cases, this includes photography/videography equipment, microphones, and editing software. All of which the attendees will learn how to use during their workshop!

What People Are Saying

“I am so lucky to have connected with Patrick Shannon! He is a perfect mentor in that he has the technical savvy and talent of a professional practicing filmmaker, a true listening spirit to help new filmmakers create their vision, a connection and commitment to young people and a sense of fun that keeps young people coming back. I work with him any chance I get!”

— Lisa G. Nielsen, Our World

“Patrick brought great skill and sensitivity to an important storytelling video project, giving a voice to Nuxalk community members in Bella Coola. He created a beautiful, compelling, first person narrative on the value of community-based training, and visually demonstrates the challenges for this remote area. He was wonderful to work with, and I hope we get the opportunity to work together again.”
