Our InnoNative Story
InnoNative was founded in 2015, by bringing together Patrick’s decade of experience in the Vancouver film & design industries, and business partner Yolanda Clatworthy’s unique approach to community engagement. Together the two also started a shared co-working space (X̱aayda Hub) in Skidegate, BC, and traveled the province teaching media and technology workshops and classes to Indigenous entrepreneurs and youth.
Today InnoNative is based out of Haida Gwaii and Vancouver, with a creative team spread across Canada.
Who Are We?
InnoNative is a video production company that brings traditional Indigenous storytelling and values into contemporary mediums.
The studio is run by award-winning Haida storyteller and entrepreneur Patrick Shannon; and works with organizations, Indigenous communities, and businesses from across Canada, approaching projects from a cross-cultural perspective to tell unique stories and empower communities in telling their own.
Youth Capacity Building
Our philosophy is that youth are the future, so let’s give them real opportunities to grow. InnoNative has mentored over 100 youth in media arts from all across Canada. We teach workshops and hire young people on almost all of our projects, supporting the next generation of storytellers.
